UPCYCLING TRUST – Identifying and highlighting inspiring projects

February 2025

The Upcycling Trust project is extending until the end of 2028. It includes implementing a model for transforming buildings into affordable housing based on the principles of solidarity land organisations in France and Community Land Trusts in Ireland and Belgium. It also includes testing the new Upcycling strategy and adopting a circular approach to renovation.

HABITER2030 completed its first deliverable at the end of September. In collaboration with teams based in Ireland (Cork), Lucie Cambianica, HABITER2030 employee, identified and highlighted inspiring projects.

This work of identification and analysis was carried out over two-and-a-half months, presenting different ways of working and at different levels. The report highlights examples of rehabilitation applied to buildings, housing complexes, individual structures and even single units.

In a concerted fashion, the participants chose to highlight partner projects to collect precise data and to be able to offer concrete elements in terms of architectural, technical, thermal, social, eco-circular and economic aspects. The architectural and thermal aspects were assessed HABITER2030, which capitalised on its experience with the 2019 Solar Décathlon Europe and the various Méta Plateau Projets resources.
